Dear Brother

10.16.08

Thirty seven years of one person always being on my team, even when we both knew it was going to be an uphill battle.

Thirty seven years of never having to do anything alone if I didn’t want to, was too afraid or simply couldn’t.

Sometimes I purposely ignore my kids for a few minutes hoping that they’ll play together. When they do my heart soars, because maybe one day Jane will come to love and admire her younger brother as much as I do mine.

Happy Birthday.

My sib trick, which seems to be working quite well so far, is that I’ve always told my two, daughter 5 1/2 yrs older than son (now 20 and nearly 15), that they’ll always have a best friend in each other, no matter what else happened in their lives.

They do have a great connection and love for each other – and have survived each other so far ;-)

My mom has always said something very similar to karma_musings. My sis and I are about 1 1/2 years apart, and while high school and the first couple years of college were hard on our relationship, we are now even better friends than we were back when we were little. I can honestly say that my sister and I look to each other more than any other friend we have when it comes to the help we need to keep going. I think we are honestly closer than my husband is with his twin brother at times. I can only hope that my children will have that wonderful bond.

That was a beautiful post Jessica, I hope your brother has a wonderful birthday.
