CBS Covering the Inauguration party
Thanks Dave, you really made me feel comfortable.
And my lid has been visting for the last few days.
Even our business cards are remarkably different. Mine features a bouncing red ball and won’t stand still long enough for a photograph. Hers is on thick textured paper and exudes East Coast responsibility.
I didn’t need Dr. Freud to tell me this means something.
Or the promoters not stopping the show?

TACOMA, Wash. – A 6-year-old boy was killed and a man was hurt after they were hit by flying chunks of metal while watching a monster truck rally at the Tacoma Dome on Friday night, officials confirmed.

The gruesome accident happened just after 10 p.m. Friday during the Monster Jam, when an apparent mechanical malfunction in a truck’s driveline, under the cab, caused metal fragments to spew out toward the crowd amid a burst of sparks.Witnesses said the red truck was driving in circles, and a spray of metal pieces came off of the truck and flew over a safety barrier. The pieces knocked the man off of his feet and hit the boy in the head, causing them to bleed and creating a rather gruesome scene.
The show promoters didn’t stop the show. Sound familiar?
What outrages you more? That a child died in a preventable accident, or that there was a display of greed so incredible by the shows promoters that they were unwilling to stop.
There are four more Monster Jam shows scheduled at the Tacoma Dome this weekend. The shows have not been canceled, but anyone with tickets who doesn’t want to attend can apply for a refund by calling Ticketmaster at 866-448-7849.
It’s 7.45 and my out of town guests arrive at 10pm. Four of them, a family of four, my goodness. I should be making beds, but I’m posting.
They will stay until Monday, at which point I will do laundry and dishes, and generally bring the house back into order.
Tuesday at 6am the caterer will arrive, at 9am approximately 25 women will arrive, with children. Yes, toddlers in my house. My clean house, my orderly house, my house full of choking hazards, electical outlets, unsecured televisions and multiple drowning opportunities.
My nerves are shot.
It gets worse though, the evites are pouring in with responses like “looking forward to commiserating….” Uh. Oh shit! You see, I voted for Obama. I’m looking forward to W slinking back to his ranch.
I sure hope the party doesn’t turn into a wake.
If I looked at you funny today it wasn’t because I was angry.
I wasn’t grumpy or mad.
I was sore.
Because we started with this
See the smiles? We started snapping it together like a giant Lego set. We muscled the walls into the flooring, I hung from the inside corners and Doc hung from the other side. 300 pounds of weight is what it took to snap one panel in. And then something miraculous happened.
After Alexander was born I really needed something just for me.
I thought of joining a book club, but I was embarassed as it seemed too cliche.
Instead I got a Masters Degree that we all know I’ll never use.
