Tech Talk Tuesday: Social Media Los Angeles #smcla

04.7.09

Check out Social Media Club’s recap post.

There was a very interesting conversation that happened at the last meeting.

My take?

Frankel sees the value of Social Media but adds a pinch of old school. He wants to see ROI from bloggers.

Cisco empowers their evangelists but delights in the fact that they don’t have to pay them. I would love to interview a Cisco blogger. Cisco also sees video as the future, though there’s something they can’t reveal.

Bakespace provides a place for brands to meet consumers and the conversation is open. I’d love to pry a little more.

Somewhere around the 38th minute of the video Wm Marc interrupts, and then at the 50th minute the Motrin discussion ensued. I don’t have much to add to the conversation at the moment, I’m still trying to formulate my thoughts.

Moms can be a brand’s best friend. I love talking about folks who get it right. I never planned on being a disrupter. I don’t plan much in this space, but every so often a housewife is what the brand needs.

Thanks to the SMCLA rockstars (let’s hope they don’t ban me)

Well done Jessica! The meeting would not have been as exciting and thoughtful had you not derailed, er…, participated in it. I look forward to getting you up on a panel to discuss the power of organized advocacy groups via social media. Heck, we could have a panel devoted to Moms. Are you with me?

      Where else would I be?

Hey, it was a GREAT event because we got people thinking about important stuff — and what’s more valuable than that?

I got to meet a lot of interesting people and consider their contributions. It’s all good.

Especially the part about ROI. :D

Wow.. I thought I was quick by clicking as soon as I got the google alert for bakespace. :)

It was great meeting you in person finally. I like that we’re able to have an open conversation at the event, on twitter, here.. where ever conversations can be had. That’s what’s cool about social media. You can use it to start and continue a conversation and it can be just as powerful and meaninful as if you and I were sitting around the kitchen table – however, we’d probably both be eating a cupcake. I look forward to sharing more and learning from everyone…
