Jane has too much on her plate. This morning she had no skirts, they’re all in her locker at school. She’s forgotten to bring them home. I know that she has four. I’ve bought four for her within the last month.
Math was full of tears, and science brought on sobbing.
I can’t help her with this. She just has to work harder, and probably get rid of the weekday sports. I also have to shut off all telephones and computers and make the evenings 100% about the kids and homework so that there are no distractions. iChat is gone, cell phones are gone, and playdates are a thing of the past.
The problem is that Jane sees this as a punishment where I just see it as a logical consequence.
That’s not true, the real problem is that I hate the thought of Jane losing her freedom, and I hate the thought of being tyrannical, but I don’t see any other option.
If you’re unfamiliar with twitter it’s not unusual for a large brand to have more than one person tweeting on the account. What they do is then add their initials to the tweet so that you’ll see who sent it.
This morning this was on the @KennethCole account. Note that whomever posted this tweet had the foresight to customize the bit.ly link to read KCairo instead of the random string of characters bit.ly will create on it’s own.
Is this from Kenneth Cole?
A few hours later this anemic apology showed up.
Is this an apology?
A few things are clear about this (in my mind). They don’t understand the power of twitter. Twitter is being used right now by the Egytpians as a major communications tool in their uprising. Worldwide Digital Natives are creating open source software that allows the Egyptians access to the internet.
This morning women are mourning the loss of their children who died because they dared demonstrate in hopes of a freer Egypt. This evening more families will join those ranks.
When people are dying for a chance to have freedom, real freedom, it’s the time to be reverent. It’s a moment for inflection, and to be proud of humanity. This is a time where every Digital Native should look at the country they are in and ask themselves what they can do to keep the Internet Open and Neutral.
This is not a moment to sell mid range shoes.
What are you prepared to do today to help ensure that the the Internet Stays Open? Net Neutrality matters.
My doctor called with my bloodwork. Good news, my thyroid was underactive. This explains my hair loss, and means that we’ll find a solution with ease. My worst nightmare was that it was a complication from the Simponi. I love an easy fix.
I also think I’ve found a good way to communicate with YouTube. Last year I found a bra in a kids size 4, and the comments after the video (on the YouTube site) were mostly young girls wondering if they are normal.
This is for them.
Thanks girls for letting me part of the conversation.
