Opoli App: Limousines On Call, No Pricing Surprises

Last week I went to a launch for Opoli. It’s an interesting app and it’s taken everything that’s right about Uber and made it just a little bit friendlier for both consumer and driver. Here’s the gist of the Opoli app (and website too). Drivers pay a monthly fee to be included in the Opoli fleet. I am unclear on just how much this fee is because I’m not licensed by the Taxi and Limousine Commission so I can’t be your driver anyhow. Opoli is an app that you use …

A Note About Girls Becoming Women

This morning I saw this ad. It made me weepy because I remember in college one of my classes was coaching baseball and softball. With my permission the professor (a woman) used me as the example of “Throwing like a girl”. I wasn’t humiliated, I hadn’t ever played baseball or softball but I was the example of how not to throw while my classmate Dawn was the example of how to throw. She used two women to demonstrate that it wasn’t throwing like a girl but rather throwing like someone …

You Can Eat Around The Green Part

I’m still working on a good post for y’all about New Orleans. My only souvenirs were two jars of Tabasco jelly, some solid perfume and the three pounds I gained. I had read on some local message boards that it was not to be missed but there was some issue about what the best dish is so …

Naked Kids + Internet = Nothing Good

No, seriously, even if your kid is two and looking at their bellybutton. Even if your daughter is too young to lactate and your son’s plumber butt is cute. I agree with you. Your children are adorable, no one is questioning that. In fact I’d be taking the same photos if I were you. I just wouldn’t be posting them online. Even to a closed group. Even to my mom. Maybe an email, maybe if I needed to get them printed but probably not even then. I’d probably go to …

I Don’t Want to Write About New Orleans – Yet

Last night I came home from New Orleans and in my head I came up with a million different versions of a blog post that I would diligently sit down and write for all of you. New Orleans is a town that everyone’s familiar with so it’s not like I’m going to discover Acme Seafood or Joanie on the Pony for y’all. I don’ t have to tell you that Bourbon Street is for tourists or that the Cafe du Monde isĀ an absolute must see. You know that music spills …
