There are a couple of transgender kids in the neighborhood. There are complications when it comes to changing for PE, swimming at camp and as puberty approaches the parents will need to make decisions about possible medical interventions.
I don’t have to make these decisions so I cannot possibly imagine what it would be like to have a child transition genders. I don’t worry about heaven and hell, afterlife or a bible but I know that many of you do and if you are one of those people this video should give you more comfort and inspiration than most. We all know some androgynous adults and more than a few kids. Some of them are going through phases, others are showing the first signs of developing into who they are meant to be.
Please watch this video. Maybe you’ll meet a transgender child or watch an adult transform. Maybe you’ll never know that you’ve met someone whose chromosomes don’t match their gender but certainly today you will run across someone who doesn’t fit into the box the world has proscribed for them. Today you’ll see someone gay or androgynous, someone who doesn’t make eye contact or has a stutter. You’ll meet someone who has a struggle that is almost assuredly less of a hurdle than being transgender and maybe by watching this you and I will be reminded to be a little kinder and a little more understanding.

I can’t imagine what it would be like to be the parent of a transgender child, much less a transgender person, but I would like to think I would be supportive of my children no matter what.
