Are you a publicist or are you a marketer? The requests made of social media influencers really need to be clear.

New Venture. Same Baffling Problem With Outreach.

This is a very strange email thread with a company representative who really didn’t know if they were trying to work with influencers as a publicist or as a marketer. They want to dictate content as though it’s a sponsored post, however they didn’t want to pay for a sponsorship.

Endings

One of the things that I’ve noticed as a reader is that there are a number of books that are good, great even, until the ending and then they sort of just unravel and stop. It’s as though the author knew they needed to stop writing but didn’t quite know how. I fear that this site has that problem. Blogging has changed and I haven’t. Homeboy Industries: Changing Los Angeles Lives

Some popular bloggers just came back from a trip sponsored by yet another brand that uses labor in emerging nations to make millennial fashion. The Problem is that My Job is Your Hobby

As is my habit first thing in the morning I poke around Facebook. I do this in part to take the pulse of the day (being in Los Angeles we’re three hours behind many trends) and I do it because there’s nothing for me to do in the morning except wait for the kids to get ready so that I can take them to school. It’s a strange amount of time, not enough to tackle anything of substance but too much to do nothing. Facebook is slightly more than nothing …
