PR For Kid Bloggers or Let’s Play the Who is the Next LiLo Game!?

This morning I got an email from a proud father. It wasn’t sent like any email from a proud father. It was a social media release which is something that reads a lot like a press release but is meant for folks in social media. The father works in social media so it came from his work email address. When I say “works” in social media I mean there’s a big job title and about 150,000 twitter followers. This is not a dabbling dad and this is not your typical …

This is the Paula Deen Day I’ve Been Waiting for

It doesn’t make me a good person but I’ve disliked Paula Deen since I first laid eyes on her. In 2007 she gave an interview to Larry King where she revealed that she spent 10 years sleeping with and, perhaps more importantly, emotionally tied to someone else’s husband. I have friends whose marriages have survived affairs. I have friends with open marriages. I have no one in my life that I admire that would spend ten years lying. I’m not sure why she made her confession but it was before …

Transactional Relationships and Social Media

When I worked in sales I called on insurance brokers to use the shop that I was representing. I’d make phone calls, I’d stop into offices and I’d have the occasional lunch, usually with an office manager. When the women were younger they would see me as their friend. I never really felt like their friend but …

On Deleted Posts

I deleted a post. It’s the second time I’ve ever deleted a post. The first time was when I leaked that Shankman sold HARO and I cannot for the life of me understand why people would tell me a secret like that without saying:┬áno really it is a secret. I deleted the post y’all are looking for because it was the right thing to do. I’m content with that as an explanation. If you’re unsure as to why it was the right thing to do you’ll just have to trust …

this is not journalism

See how there are no capital letters in the title? I’m not even sure that it’s not meant to be capitol or if I’m leading with the right words, or perhaps it’s a lede? I won’t look any of these things up just for today because I feel a need to identify and share a few of the many things I do not know. I don’t know some basic spelling so I keep a dictionary nearby. I don’t know how to use a comma very well and my friend Lisa …
