Every X-Mas my family goes to someone’s home to enjoy their X-Mas party. We love the scent of the pine trees, the decorations and we really love the candy canes.
What I don’t love is seeing X-Mas trees all over the streets waiting for trash pickup at the New Year. I am not alone, the folks at The Living Christmas Company felt the same way, and they’re out to change the way California celebrates X-Mas.
This year you can rent a living X-Mas Tree. That’s right, rather than chopping down a tree to celebrate, you can borrow a living tree, decorate it in your home and later return it to the nursery so it (like you) can continue to thrive in 2010. The details of X-Mas Tree rentals are here.
The Living X-Mas Tree Company is right here in Redondo Beach, CA. They are offering one of my readers $135 credit. This will rent you a 6-7 foot X-Mas tree or a smaller one accompanied with some ornaments.*
Entering this contest is simple, just leave a comment below telling us which tree strikes your fancy. Make sure you use a valid email address. Each comment counts as one entry. Pingbacks will also count as an entry, so a link to the contest on your blog could enter you a second time. Entries close at midnight November 24th Pacific Time.
Sometime Wednesday morning I’ll call my Dad, who knows none of you, and ask him to pick a number between 1 and [however many entries there are]. That person will be contacted. If you don’t respond within 24 hours, we’ll pick another winner.
*The reason that the 8 foot tree is not part of this giveaway is because they are almost sold out. If you MUST have an 8 foot tree I’d recommend reserving it now. I’m sure they’ll price adjust should you win this contest.
I would really LOVE to win a 4-5 foot Monterey Pine… *sigh* Such lovely Christmas bliss that would be…
Hi Jessica, I found your blog through Kim Prince. Her husband was my college professor. I would really like a 6-7′ Leylandi Cypress. For extra brownie points… I tweeted the website before I even got to the contest part :-)
This is awesome! I just heard about this company and was thinking of using them for our tree this year, but using it for free is even better, so I hope I win!
I would love a 5-7ft. Blue Cedar in my living room. I hate all the used trees lying in the street after December 25th also. When I was a kid we had a little tree in a big ceramic pot that we kept outside most of the year and brought in to decorate in late December, so it totally makes sense to me.
Thanks for doing the contest!
I like the 6′-7′ Monterey Pine.
For someone w/little space – I’m likin’ the 3′-4′ Monterey Pine!
We’ve never had a Christmas tree, in our nearly 12 years together, but now that the kids are old enough, I would very much like to have one this year. The Aleppo pine is very full, lush and appealing, but I also think the tiny Little Sequoia is adorable!!! Would love to have our first “official” christmas, with a Tree and all! Thanks for the opportunity to win, Jessica!
This will be the first Christmas that my kids will get to see a tree, this is an awesome concept. I would love the 6′-7′ Aleppo Pine, absolutely gorgeous. Thanks, Jessica.
i would love ANY tree as long as we can keep it alive!
A 7′ tall Leylandi Cypress would fit perfectly in my living room and make the whole house smell like Christmas.
My son Nicked picked out the 5-6″ Leulandi Express. We have never had a live tree, have an artificial one for past twelve years. Do they deliver to near downtown or do we have to go get the tre if we win? I think the cat would like it too.
I like them big! The bigger the better,
The Aleppo Pine is nice and full, but I think I would prefer a Monterey Pine.
OOOO lucky #13 :)
7′ tall Leylandi Cypress would be great. Do you have to be Californian to win? I’m on the east coast.
What a fantastic idea! We’re partial to the Monterey Pine! 5′-6′!
This is awesome. I want a tree!
I have a small apartment so a 4′ Monterey Pine would be perfect!
Genius!! Nothing is sadder than seeing all those trees in the gutter, except, perhaps the one or two that get set on fire… what’s wrong with people?! What a lovely solution on so many levels. A Blue Cedar would look lovely with our ornaments and would be well taken care of!
Would love the 6-7 ft Aleppo Pine. I just love this concept, as those poor trees lying at the curb just break my heart every year. Thanks for providing a solution to those who want to be responsible to our environment, but crave the smell of a fresh tree in the house!
I love them all!
I love this idea!
I be so grateful for any 5-6′ tree that smells just like Christmas.
Thanks, Jessica!
My kids would love a 3-4 foot Monterey Pine.
All the trees are beautiful! The best part is they are “guilt free” and convenient. I love the Blue Cedar.
It’s so modern and striking. Having newborns this wil be my first adult Christmas with a tree and I am extremely interested in this company — what a great service!
I’d love the 6’7 Aleppo Pine. It will be my son’s third Christmas, and each year we have taken a speical picture of him beside the tree for posterity. It would be lovely to have a live tree for a memorable holiday and to make a beautiful backgorund for a photo to cherish for years to come.
What a lovely idea! The artificial tree I’ve been using for 10 years, finally disintegrated and I would love to have a 4-5ft Blue Cedar for this year.
I absolutely love this concept of keeping our trees ALIVE! Thank you!!
My favorite is the 6′-7′ Blue Cedar.
The best of all gifts around any Christmas tree: the presence of a happy family all wrapped up in each other. I’d love a 7ft tall Leylandi Cypress for my family!
A 7 foot anything that smells good and that I don’t have to drag to the trash and then feel bad about it.
What a great idea!!!
This is such a cool concept. I haven’t had a live tree in years. Heck, I haven’t had a tree larger than 2ft in years. I’d be so happy to be able to smell a live three that I’ll take ANY tree under 6′ if I should win. Not picky at all.
What a fantastic idea – one that allows us to celebrate the holidays in a responsible fashion. I would absolutely love to have a 6-7′ Monterey Pine or Leylandi Cypress. However, they are all so beautiful so I would be grateful to be selected for any of them!
A 6ft short-needled tree would be amazing. Is that a Blue Spruce? Anyhoo, we really would just love a live tree no matter what the species. Thank you for this opportunity and keep up the good work!
The Aleppo is GORGEOUS!
7′ tall Leylandi Cypress PRETTY PLEASE!
Leylandi Cypress gets our vote :-) Love the smell! Any size would work for us…we’re not picky!
Such a fabulous idea! A 6′-7′ Monterey Pine would be perfect for us. Fingers crossed!
Little sequoia for love of CA.
This is such a lovely idea! We would love a 5′-6′ Monterey Pine. Many thanks and Happy Holidays!
The boys and I chose the 6′-7′ Monterey Pine. I can’t believe we’re looking at Xmas trees already!!!!
I had heard of recycling trees after the holidays but never heard of renting a tree before, what a great idea! I absolutely love all trees, this service will teach all of us to respect our environment more, to want not, waste not, and give back. Isn’t that the true meaning of Christmas? I’ll post a link on my facebook page to help spread the word. Thanks for informing us! If chosen to win, my family will love the Aleppo Pine 5′-6′. Thank you so much!!! Lara
We would love a 6 foot Leylandi Cypress. And this is such a great suggestion. Thanks for sharing.
what a fabulous idea! I would love to win a 6-7 foot blue cedar. My house would smell so delicious!
thank you!!
Glenda
What a great idea!! I like the Leylandi Cypress.
Ohhhh I like the idea of the Monterey Pine (6-7 ft). Very cool giveaway.
Whoa! This is innovative! renting a tree for it to continue growin’. I wouldn’t mind a 6′ cypress i can babysit for my birthday.
What a great idea! If chosen to win, my family would love the Aleppo Pine 5′-6′.
Thanks for the info
Dad says #38 it’s a nice number.
