We Brought Static Back From NYC

We got back from New York City on New Year’s Eve. Yes, that was three days ago, and I’m just finishing the laundry.

The first load was fine, and then when I went to transfer the second load from washer to dryer all I could hear was the zing of static electricity. I’d recently decided to try Method laundry soap and softener (I thought it would be nice to have lighter bottles to lift), so I figured that it just wasn’t doing the job that my beloved Tide and Downey could do.

I ran to the market on New Year’s Day to grab bottles of Tide and Downey, rewashed the clothes with all the proper pollutants in place…

Went to put them in the dryer, and there was snapping and zinging once again.

I think New York City is the static-iest place on earth, and I have no clue how to get my clothes presentable.

  1. Have you tried the bounce fabric sheet or a cup of vinegar in the rinse? I usually do the vinegar and my clothes never have static cling. Also, you can use vinegar as fabric softener. It’s good to use it on towels because the Downey will make the towels less absorbent over time. I use the vinegar every 3 or 4 loads for towels.

Or you can Google The Queen of Clean and see if she has a solution. She has great tips.

  2. I’m really loving your blog. I combat my static with Purex 3-1 laundry sheets. Tropical scent almost, & I mean almost replaces that special place in my heart for Downy. I’m an avid shopper for good products. By the by, iPhone application is rockin. Any chance there’s an Android app coming soon so I can get my bff hooked too?

  4. Sorry for the multiple posts :) told me 2x it wasn’t working. oops! I do think the android market is good to expand to if you want to really reach a larger market. Almost everyone I know has switched over. Recently read a post stating that Android was surpassing the iPhone as most popular phone on the market. *shrugs* I do know all my friends switched over though.

  5. Oh, you definitely need some white vinegar! And the best part is that it doesn’t leave a scent. You are killling me with this talk of Tide and Downy. *shudder*
